Alphonso Mango
The Alphonso Mango, proudly grown along Tanzania’s coastline, is one of the most loved and sought-after mango varieties in the country. It thrives mainly in regions like Tanga, Coast Region (Pwani), Lindi, and Mtwara, where the warm coastal climate and fertile soils create perfect conditions for its growth.
Alphonso mangoes are medium-sized, with a round to oval shape. When ripe, their smooth, thin skin changes from yellow to a vibrant orange or even reddish hue, depending on where they are grown. Inside, the flesh is bright golden-yellow, juicy, and packed with a rich tropical flavor.
The taste of Alphonso mangoes is naturally sweet and aromatic, making them perfect for eating fresh or using in juices, smoothies, and desserts.
